Bush and Cheney, To Do Their Masters Bidding!

(Click on pic for larger image)

Bush, Cheney, Tied To Major Oil Interests
President Bush and Vice President Cheney have major oil in their backgrounds outside of government. The energy policy put forth by this administration is a sop to big oil and the big three auto makers. They have reduced gas mileage standards, relaxed emissions standards and allowed loopholes in these standards for any vehicle classified as a "truck." This allows SUV's, pickups and vans to dodge these standards and safety regulations as well.
So whose interests are these guys looking out for? It is sure not the average working family or the environment.
Lowering emissions standards leads to more carbon dioxide emissions released into the atmosphere, adding to the accumulation of "green house" gases. Global warming is a fact. Whether or not it is caused by human activity is questioned in some quarters but there is no doubt the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere will not help the situation.
As global warming occurs and sea water temperatures rise, even in small amounts, the risk of more and stronger tropical storm activity will increase.
Vested oil interests seem to be resisting the development of alternative fuels. It is time to change. Oil will run out and the effects of oil dependence is having a long range detrimental effect on the planet.

Larry Liberal, He's Worried

(Click on pic for larger image)

Larry is thinking. "The Republicans are in the Oval Office, both houses of Congress and will soon be a majority on the Supreme Court."
"The governor of my state is Republican, so are both of my Senators. So is most of our congressional delegation and you have to search hard, mostly in Travis County and South Texas, to find state reps who are not Republican."
He wonders "What happened?"

GW Looking For An Exit Strategy!

Bush Seeking A Way Out
President G.W. Bush was holding a press conference during his recent trip to China when he became flustered as the reporters peppered him with questions. He abruptly ended the conference and tried to duck into a doorway that was right behind him.
The doors were locked! He then sheepishly mugged for the reporters and stalled until his handlers rescued him.
Once again the President demonstrated he had no exit strategy!

Cheney Revises History In Speech

Vice President Cheney Attacks “Revisionists”
By Revising History!

In a speech given Wednesday night, Nov. 16, at a GOP fundraiser, Vice President Dick Cheney attacked critics of the Bush administration. “Some of the most irresponsible comments, have, of course, come from politicians who actually voted in favor of authorizing force against Saddam Hussein.”
Yes many of them did vote to authorize the use of force and now they know they were bamboozled they are a bit upset about it.
Cheney said that the opponents of the Iraq policy in Congress had “…access to the intelligence and were free to draw their own conclusions.”
It’s absurd to expect that members of Congress, especially Democrats, had access to the same intelligence as the White House. And most of them believed the administration was telling the truth. Imagine that!
Paul O’Neil, former Secretary of the Treasury in the Bush administration said in his book, The Price of Loyalty, that from his earliest cabinet meetings, well before 9-11, it was clear that President Bush was making plans to invade Iraq.
Bob Woodward in his book Bush at War, says that plans to take down Saddam were being considered from the early days of the Bush administration.
Cheney and Bush made continuous comments leading up to the war that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. They made claims of nuclear capability and talked of an “imminent danger” to the U.S. Cheney said we should not wait “for a smoking gun in the form of a mushroom cloud” before we took action against Saddam.
This statement was one of many claiming Iraq had “Revived its nuclear program…” and that “They were very near to having nuclear weapons capabilities.” There was no truth in this.
Cheney and the Bush administration also made many statements to the effect that Iraq supported Al Qaida and provided training for them, that there had been high level meetings between Iraq and Al Qaida. These statements were not true. Many believe to this day that Saddam Hussein was behind the attacks of 9-11. The Bush administration has done their utmost to perpetuate this mistaken idea and yet they still use this tired old rubric to confuse the public.
The American public was told that we would be greeted as "Conquering heroes!" Now, two years later and with 2,100 Amercians killed and tens of thousands wounded opposition to our forces is stronger than ever.
Countless billions of dollars have been spent on the war. This is not what we were led to believe. The administration had said "The war will be paid for by oil sales in a revitalized Iraq."
There is much more and it is easy to look it up if you feel like it but the bottom line is this administration led our country into a war we didn’t need to fight and used deceptive and devious methods to justify the war.
Cheney is right about one thing. There are some folks trying to revise history about the origins of this war. All he needs to do is look in the mirror and he will see the chief revisionist!

Pat Robertson, A Modern Elmer Gantry

Pat Robertson Is Ready To Separate You

Pat Robertson Issues Fatwa Against Dover, Pa.

The TV evangelist Pat Robertson has once again made a statement that brings into question his mental stability and his status as a religious leader.
He once again assures us he is God’s confidant issuing a warning to Dover, Pennsylvania.
It seems that all eight of the local school board members had the temerity to vote down a measure that would have forced the local school system to include ”intelligent design” as an alternative to the teaching of Darwinian evolution.
Robertson warned the city not to look to God if they should ever suffer some calamitous misfortune.
Robertson told citizens of a Pennsylvania town that they had rejected God by voting their school board out of office for supporting "intelligent design" and warned them on Thursday not to be surprised if disaster struck.
“I'd like to say to the good citizens of Dover, if there is a disaster in your area, don't turn to God. You just rejected Him from your city.''
"And don't wonder why He hasn't helped you when problems begin, if they begin. I'm not saying they will, but if they do, just remember, you just voted God out of your city. And if that's the case, don't ask for His help because he might not be there," he said.
Last summer, he made news calling for the assassination of leftist Venezuelan Present Hugo Chavez, one of President George W. Bush's most vocal international critics.

In 1998, Robertson warned the city of Orlando, Florida that it risked hurricanes, earthquakes and terrorist bombs after it allowed homosexual organizations to put up rainbow flags in support of sexual diversity.
Other choice tidbits from this so called religious leader:
Pat Robertson, New York Magazine, 1986-AUG-18:
"It is interesting, that termites don't build things, and the great builders of our nation almost to a man have been Christians, because Christians have the desire to build something. He is motivated by love of man and God, so he builds. The people who have come into (our) institutions (today) are primarily termites. They are into destroying institutions that have been built by Christians, whether it is universities, governments, our own traditions, that we have.... The termites are in charge now, and that is not the way it ought to be, and the time has arrived for a godly fumigation."
Pat Robertson, on The 700 Club, 1991-JAN-14:
"You say you're supposed to be nice to the Episcopalians and the Presbyterians and the Methodists and this, that, and the other thing. Nonsense. I don't have to be nice to the spirit of the Antichrist. I can love the people who hold false opinions but I don't have to be nice to them."
Pat Robertson, quoted in M. Schwartz & K. J. Cooper, "Equal Rights Initiative in Iowa Attacked," Washington Post, 1992-AUG-23, Page A15:
"The feminist agenda is not about equal rights for women. It is a socialist, anti-family political movement that encourages women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft
, destroy capitalism and become lesbians

Governator Takes A Hit!

(click on pic for larger image)

Arnold Might Not Be Back!
California Governor, movie star (of course!)Arnold Schwarznegger took a big hit in yesterday's California referendum elections. He had placed these initiatives on the ballot in an effort to "go over the head of the state legislature and go straight to the people." His ploy didn't work out so well and left him fuming about "special interests!"
This may have a major effect on his political future as well as being another reflection of the low ebb nationally of the Republican party.

Bush Attempts to Bridge Right Wing Rift!

(Click on pic for larger image)

Bush Hopes to Bridge Right Wing Rift

President Bush, stung by criticism from his own right wing about his appointment of Harriet Miers, has attempted to mollify conservatives with his new appointee, conservative judge for the Third Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals, Sam, “Scalito” Alito.
During his 2000 campaign for the presidency Bush had often stated he would appoint justices to the Supreme Court in the “…mold of Scalia and Thomas.”
While pleased with his John Roberts’ nomination as Chief Justice, conservatives balked at the selection of Harriet Miers to replace Justice Sandra Day O’Connor.
Alito should fill the bill for the right. He is called “Scalito” because of his expressed admiration and affinity for Justice Antonin Scalia.
Neo Cons often decry “judicial activism,” and “legislating from the bench,” yet those terms really only apply when judicial decisions go against them. In fact, these are exactly the qualities they are looking for in a judge, as long as he decides cases in a manner that agrees with their perspective!
Extremists on both sides of the spectrum endanger the principle of judicial independence, which is essential to a functioning, fair judiciary.
Another idea put forth by many on the right is the notion of “original intent,” that is, that the Constitution must be interpreted as “intended by the Framers.”
Of course those who hold this notion, calling themselves “strict constructionists,” claim that they can somehow divine the original intent of the Framers of the Constitution, a contentious lot at best, prone not to agree on anything!
It is useful to read the writings of the Framers for some help when trying to understand something about “original intent.” A good example is listed below.

Alexander Hamilton, from; The Federalist, number 34

In pursuing this inquiry, we must bear in mind that we are not to confine our view to the present period, but to look forward to remote futurity.
Constitutions of civil government are not to be framed upon a
calculation of existing exigencies, but upon a combination of these with the probable exigencies of ages, according to the natural and tried course of human affairs. Nothing, therefore, can be more fallacious than to infer the extent of any power, proper to be lodged in the national government, from an estimate of its immediate necessities. There ought to be a CAPACITY to provide for future contingencies as they may happen; and as these are illimitable in their nature, it is impossible safely to limit that capacity.
