Allen West named to Texas Guv Sunset Commission

Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick recently announced the appointment of Allen West to the state Sunset Commission which oversees appointments, legislation and other state business.
All of the other members are legislators.
West served as a battalion commander in Irag but was relieved of his command for abusing an Iraqi detainee in 1993.
He served one term in Congress representing Florida's 22nd District but was not re-elected. West is seen as a hot head and is very acerbic in his manner.
Even some Texas Republicans questioned this move, thinking a member on the commission should "At least be from Texas!"
Patrick is himself seen by many as helping to keep Austin weird, but not in the original meaning of the phrase!
