Santorum Doesn't Understand Separation Of Church And State

Among the strangest things Rick Santorum has said as he attempts to bludgeon his way to the GOP 2012 Presidential nomination were his recent remarks concerning a 1960 campaign speech by John F. Kennedy, a Roman Catholic, when he was attempting to reassure American voters that if he was elected he wouldn't be controlled by the pope as some of his opponents had alleged.
Santorum said the speech "made me want to throw up." He continued "To say that people of faith have no role in the public square? What makes me throw up is someone who is now trying to tell people that you will do what the government says," Santorum said.
"That now we're going to turn around and impose our values from the government on people of faith."
Of course the long established doctrine, described by Thomas Jefferson as "a wall of separation between the church and the government," does not at all mean what Santorum implies. It simply states that the government, at any level, must not impose an "official" religion upon the people.
Santorum has made it more than clear he would impose his religious views on all Americans if he could.

Newt Gingrich took issue with the idea of a "safety net" for poor inner city kids. He said he would give them a trampoline instead "To lift them up." That way they will get a glimpse over the walls of the gated communities! Hope they have some energy left after they clean up their schools!

Romney Says He Is Not Concerned About The Very Poor!
Click on pic for larger image
Mitt made another dumb comment today. He said "I am not concerned about the very poor. They have a safety net." He said that if there were holes in the net he would fix it. Some comfort for poor folks and another highly revealaing Freudian slip from Richie Rich here!
Ann Richards used to say this of George W. Bush, "Poor George, he was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple!" I suppose if she were talking about Mitt Romney she could say he thinks he hit a grand slam home run! Now Romney is arguing his comment today concerning the poor was taken out of context. A few weeks ago He was bragging about an ad his team created using a quote taken entirely out of context! Hang on folks! This is just getting started!
