Chiquita accused of funding Colombia terrorists

An AP story dated May 31, 2011 outlines how the American company Chiquita, one of the largest sellers of bananas, is the subject of lawsuits listing more than 4,000 civilian vicitms, killed in the dirty war which raged in Colombia for years.
Chiquita plead guilty in 2007 to charges brought by the U.S, Justice Department for paying off the leftist Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known by its Spanish acronym, FARC. The company paid a $25 million fine.
In later years FARC was pushed out of the picture by the AUC, a Spanish acronym for the United Self-Defense Forces of Colombia.
