Anti War Protests On The Rise

It was a scene reminiscent of the late 60's and early 70's. A large anti war demonstration occurred Saturday in New York City. The protest movement against the Vietnam War started slowly but grew into a huge movement that brought down a President and eventually led to the withdrawal of U.S. forces from South East Asia.
The protestors were joined by notable figures speaking out against the war in Iraq and also against military action in Iran. Among this group was Cindy Sheehan, Susan Sarandon, Reverend Al Sharpton and the Reverend Jesse Jackson.
The crowd was estimated by organizers of the protest to be around 300,000. There were no reports of arrests.
