McCain To Suspend Campaign, Skip Debate

John McCain today announced he would suspend his campaign and postpone the first scheduled Presidential debate which had been scheduled for this Friday.
This is in response to the financial meltdown and the proposed remedy from the Bush administration.
McCain said he would instead return to Washington so he could pay full attention to the growing financial crisis.
This is a gimmick of course and so far there is no word that the Obama camp wants to go along.
To some it seems McCain is more than eager to dump the debate. Not surprising when it has been McCain among those who have long fought against the very kind of financial market regulation and oversight which now seems to be needed.
