Marie Antoinette Award Goes To:Oscar Ortiz!

The County Commissioners recently voted themselves a hefty 20.2% pay raise, added to their already overpaid salaries and expense accounts. They also voted to increase taxes for local taxpayers. Oscar Ortiz, a long time veteran commissioner had this to say to critics of the un-deserved pay raise; “The cost of living goes up.”
I suspect his constituents, most of whom live on a far less princely salary and compensation package than the esteemed commissioner, are very well aware of that!
For this kind of disconnect from real life Oscar Ortiz is hereby awarded the Marie Antoinette Award, named for the queen of France who was so isolated to the hunger and suffering of the peasants of France her rejoinder when informed of their plight was “Let them eat cake!”
